Do I need a full bladder?
A couple of glasses of water prior to the scan is always helpful but an uncomfortably full bladder is not required. -
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No, this ultrasound is offered as a bonding experience with your baby and is performed as an elective request. This scan is a non-medical and non-diagnostic ultrasound. It does not replace your routine medical/diagnostic scans requested by your doctor. -
Is this 3D/4D scan covered by Medicare or Private Healthcare funds?
No. This is an elective procedure, you will need to cover the cost of this ultrasound. We accept cash, visa, mastercard and EFTPOS. -
Who will perform my Ultrasound?
All scans are performed by a qualified accredited medical sonographer with over 10 years of experience gained at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital specifically in pregnancy and 4D ultrasound. -
When is the best time to have my 3D/4D Ultrasound?
The best time to see your baby is between 26-33wks of pregnancy. Your baby’s facial features are well developed by this stage and there still is room for your baby to move.
If you are having twins, the best time to see them interact is between 23-28wks of pregnancy. -
Can I find out the sex of my baby?
In most cases from 16weeks onwards we can give you an accurate determination of you baby’s sex depending what position your baby is in at the time. -
What happens if the baby is in an awkward position?
We aim to provide the best possible quality and satisfaction service to our customers and will make every effort to get the best possible images of your baby. However, every pregnancy is different and quality of images can be effected depending on gestational age, position of baby, maternal weight, amount of fluid surrounding baby and the position of the placenta. -
What if you see something wrong with my baby?
Even though this is not a medical scan, occasionally we may notice something that requires your doctors attention. We will contact your doctor in this case and they will organise any further investigations. -
Does Ultrasound affect the baby?
Ultrasound aquires an image by soundwaves. There is no radiation involved. Numerous studies to date have shown that ultrasound is not harmful to the baby. -
Do you have a cancellation policy?
If you do need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please give us at least 24 hours notice so the appointment spot can be used for someone else. Specialist imaging Partners does reserve the right to charge a $50.00 no show fee for patients who cancel without 24 hours notice.
